Jens Juel – admiralen bag Christianssæde
Jens Juel var ikke blot bygherre til Christianssæde. Han var også diplomat, lensbaron og en af sin tids mest magtfulde mænd med tætte forbindelser til kongehuset. Sammen med sin hustru, den handlekraftige adelskvinde Regitze Vind, opførte han i 1690 den imponerende hovedbygning, der stadig danner rammen om Christianssæde. Deres våbenskjolde pryder fortsat facaden som et synligt minde om husets grundlæggere.
The Founders
At the centre of the suite stands an impressive four-poster bed with a history that extends far beyond Lolland. The bed originates from the Danish West Indies, where Jens Juel helped to establish Danish colonisation in the second half of the 17th century. It serves as a reminder that the history of Christianssæde is not merely local, but is also closely linked to Danish seafaring, diplomacy and the global trade that characterised the era.
The suite is therefore named after the house’s two founders – Jens Juel and Regitze Vind – whose lives and decisions went on to shape the history of Christianssæde across generations.
