A royal hunting lodge

Christianssæde was not merely a manor house. It was also designed as a small hunting lodge – inspired by the royal hunting lodges of the time, where nature, hunting and a life of luxury blended together. The surrounding Christianssæde Forest is still home to a large population of fallow deer, and the hunting tradition lives on to this day.

The hunting lounge reflects this history. Hunting scenes hang on the walls, including a work by the Dutch artist Melchior de Hondecoeter. The coloured, wool-clad walls and dramatic materials are inspired by the Baroque style’s sense of warmth, contrast and detail – but interpreted with a modern twist.
