The artwork **‘The Vanquished’** was created by the artist Morten Angelo and tells nature’s own story. The stag was not killed by a hunter, but found in Christianssædeskoven after a fight with a rival. The Gallery harbours another story. Here hangs a hand-coloured copperplate engraving of the first Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. It was precisely the construction of this palace that meant the manor house on Lolland had to give up the name Christiansborg and instead became Christianssæde. A small picture with a big story. ## Respect for traditional craftsmanship The staircase itself is also worth noting. It was hand-built by Danish joiners as a modern interpretation of a Baroque staircase from the 17th century.
